Allowing Better Access To The World.
Technology can sometimes feel overwhelming — especially if you are adapting to sight changes, learning new skills, or simply unsure where to begin.
But, technology can also be life-changing. From keeping in touch with family and friends, to managing appointments, accessing information, exploring employment, or simply enjoying hobbies and entertainment, digital skills can open doors to greater independence and confidence.
Our Tech Skills Training service is here to help members learn technology in a friendly, patient and supportive environment, guided by people who understand that everyone learns at their own pace.
Technology support and training are widely recognised as helping blind and visually impaired people increase confidence, independence, and participation in everyday life, which is what we want our members to experience.
Tech Skills Training is peer-led guidance and practical learning, designed to help you become more comfortable and confident using technology.
This is not a formal classroom or exam-based course. It is relaxed, practical support designed around your goals, your confidence level, and your interests.
Whether you are completely new to technology or simply want to build on existing skills, we can help you take those next steps.
Sessions can be offered through:
📱 WhatsApp Support
💻 Meet (Google Meet) Sessions
📧 Email Guidance and Follow-Up
Technology learning works best when people receive encouragement and support that matches their individual needs and learning style. Our sessions teach you what you want to know, about the technology you need, at a pace relative to you, until you obtain the skills you desire.
Technology is not simply about gadgets. For many people living with sight loss or changing vision, technology represents:

One member described feeling intimidated by technology and was worried about "getting things wrong." Through our patient, one-to-one support, they learned basic phone features and discovered that learning technology could feel manageable and enjoyable.
Another member wanted a simple way to stay connected with family but felt nervous using messaging apps. After our support sessions, they began using WhatsApp confidently and now keep in touch more regularly with loved ones.
A member who struggled managing appointments and reminders, learned how to use phone alarms, calendars and voice reminders. What once felt stressful, became far easier for them to organise independently.
One member became interested in employment and online learning. Technology training gave them the confidence to access digital resources and explore courses they previously felt were beyond reach.
These are not technology experts or computer specialists — they are ordinary people discovering what technology can do for their lives.
When venturing into Tech training, many members tell us:
"I’m not technical."
"I’m too old to learn this."
"I’m worried I’ll press the wrong thing."
We hear this often. And the truth is: You do not need to be an expert. Technology learning works best when it is relaxed, supportive and focused on your own goals — and we are here to help make that happen.
