Post-Surgery Support Club
Where Help Is Always Available!
Where Help Is Always Available!
Recovery after OOKP surgery involves more than physical healing — it also brings emotional adjustment, lifestyle change, and new ways of living day-to-day. That’s why we created the Post-Surgery Support Club — a welcoming space where people who've experienced OOKP surgery, their families, friends, and carers can come together to connect, support one another, share experiences, learn from one another, and celebrate progress.
Support clubs help reduce feelings of loneliness, validate lived experience, and build motivation and hope in recovery.
The Support Club was purposely created and is a peer-led, community-focused group for:
people living with OOKP after surgery
family members supporting someone with OOKP
friends and carers who want shared connection and understanding
This is a safe, respectful space where individuals can talk openly about their experiences, ask questions, listen, share ideas, and support one another based on real-life experience and compassion.
Unlike clinical therapy, our post-surgery Support Club is about shared understanding, community connection, and mutual encouragement — people helping people through lived experience.
Research shows, being part of a support club offers many benefits, including:
Talking with others who have similar experiences helps you realise you’re not alone — and that others can truly understanding what you’re going through.
Members often find that sharing feelings, stories, and challenges with a supportive group eases emotional stress and builds a sense of belonging and confidence.
Club members share practical ideas — what helped them with recovery, daily planning, emotional coping, adaptive tools, routines, and reintegration into life and work.
Seeing personal progress and hearing others’ successes can boost confidence and inspire hope — an important part of the recovery journey.
Our club provides opportunities to meet others, make new connections, try group activities, and feel part of a community that celebrates achievements big and small.
We believe in members being inclusive, therefore, our Support Club is open to:
OOKP patients at any stage after surgery
Family members and close relatives
Friends who support someone with OOKP
Carers or helpers providing day-to-day support
Everyone is welcome — whether you’re looking for emotional connection, practical ideas, or simply a space to share and learn.
Our Support Club tries to cover as many issues as possible and may include:
Group conversations and sharing circles where members talk openly about experience, progress, challenges, and ideas.
Member-led discussions on topics like coping strategies, daily routines, reintegration into social life and Well-being.
Focus meetups on specific themes (e.g., returning to work or training, managing energy, creative wellbeing).
Celebration sessions where members can share achievements, big or small.
All activities are designed to be supportive, peer-led, respectful, and inclusive.
Joining is easy. Just contact us and let us know you’re interested!

Your name
Whether you're a patient, family member, friend, or carer
Any preferences you have for meeting formats (e.g., in-person groups, online meetings)
Any topics you’d like the club to explore
We aim to respond within 2–3 working days.
We appreciate our members live in different areas of the country, so we've tried to conduct meetings using a variety of formats. Therefore, meetings may be held:
In-person, where possible
Online via video call for those who prefer remote participation
Casual social sessions or structured group chats based on interest
Flexible and member-driven — if members want a regular schedule or specific themes, we can plan around that
Our goal is to make club involvement welcoming, accessible, and meaningful for everyone who wants to join.
To ensure the Support Club is a safe and comfortable space for everyone, we ask members:
Respect for individual experiences is essential
Confidentiality within the group is honoured
Participation is optional — share what feels right for you
Everyone listens and learns from one another
These principles help ensure that members feel safe, connected, and valued.
Our Support Club is part of your wider support network — it adds emotional and social connection to the ongoing clinical care and one-to-one support you may already be receiving.
Support groups like ours are known to:
help people feel understood and validated
encourage coping and resilience
foster a sense of community and shared purpose
offer encouragement through shared experience
We welcome any ideas our members feel would improve our service! If there’s something you’d like the club to explore — a topic, activity, or format — please let us know.
