Something To Help You On Your Fundraising Journey
Have you ever thought about organising a fundraising event for our OOKP Support Service, but simply didn't know where to begin?
Maybe you've considered a sponsored walk, a cake sale, a quiz night, a workplace fundraiser or something completely different.
Perhaps you've had an idea, but wondered: "How do I actually organise this?" That's exactly why we created the OOKP Support Service Fundraising Handbook.
Fundraising doesn't have to be complicated. It doesn't have to involve a huge event, lots of money or a large team of volunteers. Sometimes, it starts with one person having an idea. And that one idea can make a real difference.
We've created this handbook as a practical resource you can return to whenever you need it. It takes you through the fundraising journey step by step, helping you turn an idea into a properly planned and organised fundraising activity.
Inside you'll find guidance covering:
Understanding the principles of successful fundraising.
Planning your fundraising activity.
Setting realistic fundraising targets.
Creating budgets and managing costs.
Choosing and organising a suitable venue.
Considering safety and accessibility.
Recruiting and working with volunteers.
Promoting your fundraiser.
Managing the event itself.
Handling money and completing your fundraising afterwards.
Saying thank you and keeping supporters involved.
And, because sometimes the hardest part of fundraising is simply deciding what to do, we've included something extra.
Our handbook contains 100 different fundraising ideas, giving you plenty of inspiration, whether you're looking for something simple, adventurous, traditional, unusual or completely different.
You'll find ideas suitable for individuals, families, workplaces, community groups and teams. You don't have to choose the biggest idea. You don't have to raise the most money. Choose something that suits you. A small fundraiser can still make a big difference.
We've also included a complete collection of practical fundraising tools that you can use alongside the handbook.
These include planning checklists, budgeting resources, risk assessment templates, venue checklists, sponsorship resources and other materials designed to help you organise your fundraiser professionally. So rather than simply telling you what you should do, we've tried to give you the tools to actually do it.
You don't need to be an experienced fundraiser. You don't need to be a member of the OOKP Support Service. You don't need a large organisation behind you. You simply need an idea and the willingness to give it a try.
Whether you're:
An OOKP patient
A family member or friend
A carer
A workplace or community group
A school or college
A supporter who has simply discovered our work or even another organisation looking for help with fundraising for your own causes
— you're welcome to use the handbook.
DOWNLOADING THE HANDBOOK
We've made our handbook available, so people can use it, share it and hopefully turn the ideas into real fundraising activities.
Simply click the button below, to open the handbook, then click the "DOWNLOAD" icon in the top left corner of the page, to save it direct to your device, for permanent reference.
The handbook is provided as a free resource. Please feel free to use it, share it and encourage others to get involved.
You don't have to be an OOKP member to help. Perhaps you've discovered the OOKP Support Service, because someone you know has been affected by OOKP. Perhaps you simply believe in what we're trying to achieve.
Our service is currently volunteer-led, relying on donations and fundraising to continue developing. (ookpsupport.org) So, if you've downloaded the handbook and found it useful, we'd be incredibly grateful if you would consider supporting the work behind it with a DONATION.
Your donation for our comprehensive handbook, helps us continue developing the website, information resources, peer support, educational material and other services for people affected by OOKP.
