It Takes A Community To Achieve Results.
How You Can Help – Be Part of Something Life-Changing
Our OOKP support group was built on compassion, resilience, and a shared determination to make life better for people going through one of the world’s rarest and most challenging eye procedures. But we can’t do it alone.
Whether you’re a patient, family member, friend, or someone who simply wants to make a difference, there’s a place for you here. Every action, no matter how small, helps build something greater; and we warmly invite you to join us on this journey.
We're a volunteer-led organisation, and that’s something we’re proud of. Everything we’ve created so far has come from people giving their time, care, and skills; and we’re always looking for more kind-hearted individuals to join our team.
You don’t need any special qualifications to help. If you can write, listen, organise, design, connect, or simply care — you already have what it takes. From helping to run our social media or website, to reaching out to hospitals or supporting patients directly, there's plenty of meaningful ways to get involved. You can volunteer as much or as little time as suits you — even an hour a month can make a real difference.
If volunteering with us sounds like something you’d like to explore, just visit our "Contact Us" page and get in touch. We’d love to talk with you and help find a role that fits your time and interests.
Fundraising is a vital part of what keeps our group going. The money we raise helps provide essential support for OOKP patients and families across the UK. It allows us to create wellbeing materials, host peer support events, produce educational content, and build new services that can reach those who need them most.
If you’ve ever thought about doing something positive — whether it’s a sponsored walk, cake sale, birthday fundraiser, or something a little more creative — we’d love to support you. We can provide resources, ideas, and help you get started. It doesn’t have to be big to be powerful. Every pound raised brings more care, more comfort, and more connection.
We can also work with schools, workplaces, or local groups who want to support us through team fundraising or charity partnerships.
Even if you’re not ready to volunteer or fundraise, you can still be part of what we’re building. Simply sharing what we do — online, with friends, or in your community — helps us reach more people. Every time you tell someone about us, you could be connecting a future patient with the support they desperately need.
You might follow our social media, join our newsletter, take part in a campaign, or help test a new service. You could even share your own OOKP story, which can inspire and guide others facing the same path.
When you connect with our group, you’re becoming part of a growing national community — one rooted in empathy, lived experience, and shared strength.
As we work hard to grow into a registered charity, we’re excited about the future. We want to bring our support to every patient and family affected by OOKP, no matter where they live in the UK. But we can only do that with your help.
Whether you want to give time, raise funds, or simply spread the word, we would be honoured to have your support. Together, we can create something truly special — a lasting community that uplifts, educates, and empowers everyone touched by the OOKP journey.
